What changes when you convert XLSX to PDF
It stops being editable
A XLSX is a document that reflows — text finds its own line breaks depending on the fonts and page size available. A PDF fixes every glyph in place. That is exactly why PDF is the format you send someone, and exactly why it is the wrong format to keep working in. Hold on to the XLSX as your editable master.

The conversion runs through headless LibreOffice — the same engine behind the desktop suite, not a lookalike parser. It handles ordinary documents faithfully. Where it can drift is on the elaborate: a document leaning on fonts the server does not have will have them substituted, and the substitute rarely occupies exactly the same width, so line and page breaks can move. Heavily designed layouts are worth checking against the original.

A spreadsheet has no natural page size, so the PDF is broken up according to the print settings saved in the XLSX. A wide sheet without a set print area will spill across pages in a way that rarely reads well. Set the print area, scaling and orientation in the spreadsheet first — the conversion honours those settings rather than guessing.
